Water

The maximun density of water is said to be 1 g/mL at 277.15 Kelvin or 4 degrees Celcius (Based on atmospheric pressure). Since density is a ratio between mass and volume and mass is a constant quantity of all substance, therefore density will just be dependent on volume. We all know that density of a substance is inversely proportional to its volume, because of this density is decreased by lowering the substace volume. What I am trying to say here is that, Water expands above and below 4 degrees celcius contradicting on what others said that a water expands at high temperature and compresses when temperature is lowered. How will I prove it? The maximum density is 1 g/mL at 4 degrees celcius, thus the volume is minimum at that temperature.
